High School Stars to MATCHWITS on TV!

What do you get when you bring smart teens together to compete against one another on television for cool prizes? The answer, of course, is Matchwits! Matchwits is a weekly academic quiz program exclusively for Colorado high school students. The on-air tournament consists of four rounds of increasingly-difficult questions covering subjects like English, history, geography, science, and more. Preston Students Strong in Congressional Debut

Congratulations to the Preston Forensics/Debate Team! Last Friday, November 8th, the Forensics/Debate students from Preston Middle School competed in their first Congressional Debate tournament at Woodrow Wilson Academy in Westminster, Colo. Playwriting Workshop and Competition

The Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) is launching a new playwriting initiative for Colorado high school students in the fall of 2013! The program will begin in late September and will accept one-act play submissions from October 1 through December 1. Brazilian Students Correct Bieber, Miley

Are you ready for your very favorite news story of the week? A school in Brazil called Red Balloon has been using grammatically incorrect tweets by celebrities — including Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, and Justin Bieber — to teach their students proper English. This incredibly creative tactic stems from an initiative called Celeb Grammar Cops, which the school unveiled earlier this year. Pretty Brainy, a cool nonprofit based in Northern Colorado, is offering a half-day STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) learning workshop for girls between the ages of 10 and 14. Pretty Brainy has built a strong reputation for giving girls practical, fun, hands-on fashion design projects that incorporate real-world elements of the STEM/STEAM curriculum.
